Want to Start at a Gym, but Overwhelmed by the Options?

There is an endless supply of gyms, and when you search for “gyms near me,” the number of results seems to go on forever. Picking the right one is just like shopping for a car. You have to find the one that is right for you,  you enjoy driving, and is the right color. You don’t go to a car dealership, just point at a car and go sign the paperwork. It is important that the gym you decide to become a member of is one you fall in love with. Not all gyms are created equal. You need to feel supported, seen, and not just another number. You don’t need all of the answers to take the first step. Just like buying a car, a test drive is a great place to start! I can’t tell you what a test drive at other gyms will be like, but I can tell you what to expect at our gym.

You’re Not Alone, Most People Don’t Know What to Expect Their First Day

When I walked into my first CrossFit gym, I was nervous. I had not done any kind of working out in a very long time. I didn’t know what was going to happen. It is okay to have nervous energy when you come to your first class. I still get nervous about specific workouts. If you are looking for a quick fix to those nerves, I recommend bringing a friend with you. I was lucky, and my wife joined me when trying out our first CrossFit gym. After we got there, I learned there was nothing to be nervous about. The same is true for when you come for your first class at Leander CrossFit. We will walk you through every step of the class, warm up, strength work, workout, cooldown, and anything in between. We will help you pick a version of the workout to meet your needs and level for that day, we call it scaling. Our goal is for you to have a great time, have a good workout, and meet some of our amazing members.

How Our Gym Welcomes New People (No Pressure, No Judgment)

Before you ever step foot into our gym, we want to know more about you and your goals. We’d like to text or chat with you on the phone to get to know you and understand how we can help you achieve your goals. After our conversation, we will schedule your first free class! When you come to this class, you can expect the coach to be ready to get to know you and make sure you are ready for your first workout. We won’t expect you to know everything, and we will be sure to help you through class. We have ambassadors in most of our classes who will also be a resource for you to feel more comfortable and answer questions. You will not be thrown into class blindly. The coach will give you clear guidance with great vibes. There will be no drill sergeant energy. Instead, a coach who is ready to help you feel at home at our gym. 

Don’t Worry, You Won’t Be the Only Beginner

You will quickly realize that at our gym, our classes are a mix of all levels of fitness. We have beginners to advanced members who have been involved in our gym for a very long time. You will not be the only beginner in the class; there will be others still learning and gaining experience. We firmly believe in celebrating progress and not perfection, and that everyone has room for growth. Our coaches coach the advanced members and the newer members in the same manner, but meet each member where they are in their journey. We have all been the “new kid’ before and that is a part of what makes our community so supportive and connected. You will find some new workout buddies that are just getting started as well as some that have been around the block a time or two. Without a doubt, you will leave the gym with a couple of fist bumps and high-fives. 

We’re Not a “One Size Fits All” Gym, and That’s On Purpose

Every class is made up of such a variety of members makes our gym unique and why we are not a one-size-fits-all gym. We have a workout of the day, but our coaches are trained to help you pick the version of the workout that is right for you today. Every workout can be scaled, whether you are 25 or 75. We get to know you, your history, injuries, and experience to modify and scale workouts so you can feel like you did something hard and accomplished when you leave. We will never force you to do something that doesn’t feel safe or right for your body. We will challenge you and encourage you to try new things, but if it doesn’t feel right, we understand. Our programming is structured; everyone does the same workout in class, but it is flexible. The important thing is that you keep showing up.

The Gym Should Be the Best Hour of Your Day

If you are feeling scared about walking through the doors of our gym, know, we want this to be a reset button for you, day, week, or life, not something else to stress about. As your day goes about its normal routine, we want coming to our gym to be the thing that you are looking forward to all day, your happy place. You will leave feeling stronger, more confident, and with some new friends. Inside our walls, we do hard things, but we also laugh with each other, cheer each other on, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. The hardest part is walking through the door the first time. After the first week, the hardest part is getting our members to go home.

You’ve Got This (And We’ve Got You)

Support is what you will get when you join us at Leander CrossFit. You may not believe in yourself yet, but we already do. Our community will bring out the confidence in yourself and help to keep you accountable and drive you forward toward your health goals. Our coaches want to help you succeed; that is why we are doing what we do. Whatever your goal is, we are here to help you reach it. We believe in small wins, building momentum.
